CLINICATIONS

Celebrex is indicated for the relief of pain, swelling and/or tenderness, moderate to severe inflammation of the painful lower limbs, knees, back, and neck; as well as for the management of pain, cold and flu symptoms; and as an adjunct to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

DESCRIPTION

Celebrex contains a mixture of celecoxib (Celebrexin) and isopropyl alcohol as the alcohol groups. Each capsule is coated with a hydrophilic polymer (polyhydroxyethyl cellulose) to prevent the absorption of the drug through the intestine. Celecoxib is used in the treatment of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. In the treatment of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, isopropyl alcohol is used to reduce swelling, since this substance is related to the activity of the enzyme that breaks down aspirin in the stomach. Celebrex is used for the relief of mild to moderate pain and inflammation of the lower limbs, knees, back, and neck.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

Each capsule contains 200 mg of celecoxib.

OTHER INGREDIENTS

Inactive ingredients: colloidal silicon dioxide, croscarmellose sodium, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, pregelatinized starch, and titanium dioxide.

ARTOGNMENTAL MEDICATIONS

Celebrex is indicated for the relief of pain, moderate to severe inflammation of painful lower limbs, knees, back, and neck; as well as for the management of pain, cold and flu symptoms; and as an adjunct to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

PRECAUTIONS

Before taking Celebrex, tell your doctor if you have or have ever had peptic ulcers. If you are allergic to aspirin, aspirin-like medicines or any other pain killers, tell your doctor before taking Celebrex.

STORAGE

Store below 30°C.

The capsule can be torn or broken, open or closed. Protect from light. Keep out of reach of children. Store in the original package. To change the capsule formulation, read the label or use a different one. For example, a capsule containing 200 mg of celecoxib may contain a mixture of 200 mg of celecoxib. The capsule shell may look similar to a clear film-coated shell. To avoid accidentally ingesting a medicine, give the medicine by mouth at a fixed time to avoid irritation of the lining of the stomach.

DOSAGE

The recommended dose of Celebrex is 100 mg taken orally once daily.

The recommended dose of Celebrex in children aged 12 months and older is 50 mg once daily.

The dose may be increased to 100 mg daily if necessary. Do not take more than 100 mg of Celebrex in 24 hours. The dosage may be adjusted by the doctor based on the pain, tenderness and severity of your condition. The duration of treatment with Celebrex varies from patient to patient, but in general, the doctor will give you a dose of 200 mg of Celebrex daily for relief of minor or moderate pain, joint pain, muscle aches and pains, and menstrual cramps. The following is what is called a “preferred pharmacy” drug list. It’s very useful for me because a few years ago, I was asked by a friend of mine, Dr. Poddar, MD, PhD, FCP, to take a drug list of over 100 drugs that are not FDA approved.

We were given a list of 10 that are FDA approved. In fact, the list is even more than 100. This was a drug that was prescribed to me for my Crohn’s disease. The drug I was prescribed was celebrex (celecoxib). I was taking 400 mg of celecoxib. I did NOT take a 400 mg capsule. I took the 400 mg capsule for 2 days. I took the 800 mg capsule for 4 days. I took the 800 mg capsule for 7 days. I took the 800 mg capsule for 8 days. I took the 800 mg capsule for 6 days. I took the 800 mg capsule for 5 days.

The price of celecoxib in Canada has been slashed to $10 per 2.5 mg capsule in comparison with the $9.49 price list posted in the US.

This price difference was revealed by the government.

The government announced that it would make changes to the prescription drug pricing regime in Canada in June 2023. However, the change would have been for a different dosage and formulation than that provided for by the government in the US. The government said it was pleased that the price reductions made in Canada were not affecting the Canadian market and that the change would not affect the US market.
